Playing Chess on Small tapisserie

This Royal Oak ref 25860 was introduced in 1997, more or less as a celebration of the ‘original’ Royal Oak’s 25 year anniversary. This chronograph was dubbed “Garry Kasparov”, the chess player was an AP ambassador and often seen with this exact watch.

We love these chronos because they are very faithful in soul and size, like the first 'Oak ref. 5402 in 39 mm.

In the 1980s Audemars Piguet started to experiment with complications within the Royal Oak model range. First was the Day-Date ref. 25572 and shortly after AP took it to the next level by starting to develop its own self-winding chronograph caliber in the 1990s, the caliber 2385.

Unlike Rolex that started to develop its own self-winding caliber around the same time, Audemars Piguet decided to go with an additional date function, sitting in a window between 4 and 5 o’clock.

The watch has lovely recessed sub-dials lurking in the Dark Blue “tapisserie” pattern, a typical feature for Royal Oaks. It has nicely shaped and robust screw down pushers with the same shape as a typical setting crown of the Royal Oak family .

The Integrated bracelet is in fantastic tight condition and fits wrists up to 18.5/19 cm.

The watch comes with an AP cardboard ( service ) box and an ‘Extrait de Registre’ stating sale in 1999.

The watch has been fully checked and regulated by our watchmaker.
